Making your Windows 10 Command Prompt (CMD) Transparent

Making your Windows 10 Command Prompt (CMD) Transparent

If you have used linux or unix based system you probably would have seen a transparent shell or known to be as command prompt Windows User. But we know that Windows doesn’t provide this facility so people generally go for third party software to get a see through command prompt.

I love the transparent shell and I came to know about it few months ago when I installed Kali Linux. It’s cool to work in it as you can see what’s behind the shell which is also helpful many times. Times like you are working in a directory in a full screen mode and have to use its file often. So instead of switching between windows or using dir command transparent shell is a cool option.

This facility was not present in older Windows version but now in Windows 10 Microsoft have added this feature. So now you don’t have to depend on third party application you can easily make your command prompt (CMD) transparent following these steps.

Here are the steps to do so:
    • Open Run Dialog (Win Key + R)
    • Type cmd and hit OK
    • Right click the title bar of your command prompt
    • Select Properties
    • Click on the Color tab
